The Catholic Bible, In One Paragraph

The Catholic Bible contains 73 books — 46 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. It includes seven deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch) and additions to Esther and Daniel. These books have been part of Christian Scripture since before the Reformation, read at Mass, prayed at adoration, and quoted by the Fathers of the Church. To read the Catholic Bible is to read Scripture within a living tradition of prayer, liturgy, and sacrament.
